If you don't want to kill your enemy, make him your friend.
Interpretation:
A living enemy can be useful
He will be better than a dead enemy
At the moment when the body prepares for death,
You extend your open palm to him in response.
He will stop threatening to try to escape,
And it will increase all your deeds and strength.
Historical example:
This story happened a long time ago, in those forgotten times when a person first killed another person and realized that there was benefit for him in this. The lands of China were then a scattering of small possessions, but each was proudly called the Empire. Each empire was ruled by its own sovereign - according to its own laws, and there were an innumerable number of these laws. But the sky above all lands was one. And there was one large state in the sky, ruled by the Emperor of All Times and Peoples. This ruler was a special Son of the Celestial Empire - two personalities lived in his chest: female and male. The male name was Kiang, and this name meant “Strong Husband.” And the woman’s name was Ling, which meant “Understanding, Compassionate.” Two souls gave the emperor the time of two lives, two pairs of eyes - the opportunity to see differently, and two heads - to think in two different ways. The female side often argued with the male side, and the emperor rushed from one decision to another. Then Kiang hid her deeper and closed the entrance to the woman’s consciousness with a Han sword. Everything she said was reflected from the steel and did not reach the emperor’s ears. Kiang did not know that without a female personality he was losing his second life and the time that gave him heaven.
The Son of the Celestial Empire did not have lands and wealth; initially he had to take care of the common good of all peoples. Numerous rulers, on the contrary, cared only about their own pleasures and did not see the dangers for their kingdoms. The Son of Heaven Kiang saw this and became increasingly angry with the people. He feared that the High period would come ahead of time, when everything would be shrouded in darkness and there would be no man left. The duality of his nature could bring him great victories. Kiang decided to unite all the lands of people under his rule. He began to fight with people, using their stratagems and tricks. He won victory after victory, killing left and right. Kiang forgot what the power of the Heavenly Rulers is - to make yourself invincible, and not to force the enemy to submit to you.
The male spirit asked for fire and blood, and his mind knew no equal in the use of military strategies. Knowledge of all times and peoples flowed in his veins, finding each enemy army its own weakness. He defeated cowards using their fear and greed, deceived fools with beautiful stories and could extract everything from nothing. “There is nothing worse than having ambition without intelligence,” he said, and destroyed three warriors with the help of two peaches. His passion and thirst for victory were so great that he did not notice how his lands were devastated. Their unification did not give rise to the Great Empire. Houses were burned, the land ceased to be fertile, and people lost their purpose. They lost their families, forgot the sweetness of music and the ancient wisdom of books. People were killing each other and Kiang couldn't stop it. His anger and orders only provoked more and more wars.
The time came when the life of the Son of Heaven began to dry up. His strength was leaving him, and his mind was clouded. He understood that his end would soon come. At the same time, his lands were empty, and his people were embittered and helpless. Kiang did not know what to do with such an Empire. He increasingly remembered his feminine essence and stroked the iris pattern on the blade. The power of Ling glowed in the hilt of the sword. She had been asking to come out for a long time, suffering from the inability to stop senseless battles.
One small kingdom of Fan remained unconquered, whose people did not succumb to the general chaos. They did not want to live under the rule of the Son of Heaven. Fan lands were located along the banks of a clear river. The people of this kingdom grew the best rice in China, but military affairs were unfamiliar to them. They were good at telling stories and playing musical instruments, but they could not play on the trust of others. Therefore, Kiang's last victory was easy. Standing in front of those who remained alive, he did not know what to do with these people. Filled with anger, he was going to kill them. At this point, Kiang's life cycle came to an end. The strength that held the feminine essence weakened. Ling was able to break out and take over Kiang's consciousness. The emperor's feminine soul understood that there was no point in destroying the enemy. They will not get the expected result, but will only be left alone on empty land. When the weakened warrior fell to his knees, Ling did not kill him. She extended her hand to him and offered to become a friend, since a living friend is better than a dead enemy. The defeated warrior did not want to die, but he could not immediately trust the enemy. In the end, Warrior Fang humbled his pride and extended his hand in response. Thus peace and tranquility reigned in the conquered lands of the Son of Heaven.
The people of the land of Fang happily and willingly promised to train the warriors to grow rice. But fear and distrust of the winners did not leave their minds for a long time. Ling remembered that the defeated warrior did not immediately extend his hand to her, because he was holding the dagger behind his back. Therefore, she kept the male personality of Kiang behind her back, so as not to provoke the weak into careless wars. Soon people calmed down and stopped thinking about battles. The Alliance of Heavenly Rulers was the most merciful victory in Chinese history, since the best emperor is the one who combines the wisdom of a strategist and the experience of a commander in one body.
